The Stellite 12 cobalt-based welding rod resembles stainless steel silver-gray in color, yet it has a greater density and hardness. Stellite 12 Cobalt Based Welding Rod is an alloy made of pure cobalt, containing 30% chromium, 8% tungsten, and trace amounts of carbon. The Stellite 12 cobalt is produced by vacuum induction melting cobalt, subsequently undergoing hot-rolling, drawing, and peeling before being cut. Standard lengths are 300 or 450 mm, and the diameters are also standardized at 2.5 mm, 3.2 mm, 4.0 mm, and 5.0 mm. The Stellite 12 cobalt has a tight tolerance of ±0.15 mm which easy measurement by calipers ensures precision.

To eliminate internal stress, each rod undergoes a solution treatment in a vacuum furnace at 1100℃, followed by slow cooling to room temperature. This reduces cracking during welding. The surface is pickled and polished to a roughness of Ra <= 0.4 μm, resulting in a more stable arc and less spatter. The Stellite 12 Cobalt Based Welding Rod has no coating on the outer ring, making it a bare rod suitable for direct current reverse polarity or AC argon arc welding, with pencil-like arc control. The weld seam is silvery white after welding, with a hardness of HRC 44-50. It is both wear-resistant and heat-resistant, retaining its shape even at temperatures up to 800℃.

The first step of the packaging process is placing the alloy in vacuum bags. The bags are then placed in cardboard boxes. The boxes are marked with key identifiers such as the weight, 5 kg or 10 kg, diameter, and chemical compositions, making the boxes easy to identify. Store the boxes in rooms devoid of acids and alkalis, and the rods remain rust-free for 3 to 5 years at room temperature. Welding is easy: simply wipe to remove the dust from the surface, and go. No preheating or postheating is a requirement, streamlining the welding process.
